Bangalore Sojourn
The bangalore sojourn ended brilliantly i would say.I did some new things .. and i felt like a debutant playing in lords :P
The Night Club/Pub/Disc visit
- Thanks to some of the interns in GE .. i was coaxed and cajoled and what not to make my first visit to a night club/pub/disc watever it is called. The place was Hint in Bangalore Central.
- The stupid chap that i am .. i didnt even know that wearing shoe was mandatory. Some ruckus later .. i was allowed entry inside. I somehow didnt like the environ .. though i now get the idea of a disc. Its about small dark areas where people get drunk and dance like the world is ending. If you are a girl you will be casually molested .. if you are a guy in all probability you will be the one who will attempt the casual molesting thing . Suprisingly no one complains .. and guess thats the best part :P. Otherwise lot of loud music and free drinks. For someone like me it is a good one time visit .. for someone like you .. (Yes .. you !) its worth a visit every weekend. Also got to know that some females actually wear what they wear .. ( To know more on this please catch hold of me on Gtalk :P) .
- If i was as RSS like .. like i was in B.Tech .. i would have given a long sermon on swadeshi or easternisation-westernisation blah .. but now i dont care :P . let the world rot ! :D
The fashion show
- Then this fashion show thing happened .. which opened my eyes to an altogether different world which i thought existed only in Movies .. More specifically madhur bhandarkar’s Page3/Fashion :D.
- Thanks to a cousin of mine.. i got a free invite to a fashion show hosted in UB City Bengaluru.It had Miss India Earth as the show stopper ..
- Firstly about the venue .. UBCity. Though from the outside it looks like one of those flashy glassy buildings .. it is a different world inside. It has some weird hi fashion brand shops which no one goes into i think :P . I saw most people roaming around the complex and then reach top floor and eat thali in rajdhani or have a sub in subway. But nevertheless it is a majestic building . Especially at night time .. the lighting gives a totally different effect.
- Anyway coming back to the fashion show… it is like straight out of the movie fashion .. or one of those stuff you (yes.. you !) used to watch late night in FTV . All the page3 stereotypes are there .. male fashion junta who look so fair that they are most certainly gold/platinum level customers of fair and handsome !. Then there are these oldish aunties who try to look youngish by wearing all sorts of dresses . Oh yeah .. you also have some real good looking beauties too ;) . There was a lingerie round in the end .. and surprisingly a lot of the female populace was also excited about it :P . It was fun nevertheless. The models looked like models :P .. more gloss .. less life :). Some pics below . Hope i am not violating any copyrights .. no one stopped me from clicking pics anyway ! :D
Very englightening visit i would say .. like i said at the start .. i never knew that such a world actually existed ;) .
Okie now stop looking at those pics like that .. dont try to zoom !! :P .. lets get back to my boring stuff.
The City
Apart from the dinchuk kannada dappu songs .. there is one more thing i miss about bangalore .. i may go to a myriad other cities in india in future… but never again will i get to see this in any city bus !.. sooo many people use laptops in city buses .. i think very soon there will be wi-fi in bangalore volvo buses ! . There has been a recent talk of bangalore being bangalored to gurgaon. No city can replace bangalore as IT capital of india .. the geekiness runs in their blood .. in their buses .. where not ! :P
The Company
Oh yeah .. so the internship ended. Quite some experience i would say. Waiting for the result .. is apt way of putting it now :). Had a nice sumptuous farewell dinner at zodian in fortune select trinity .. it was a very very long buffet menu and great ambience. Thumbs Up :).
Books Read
- Only read “Super Freakonomics” in the past month .. though i did read stuff on and off never managed to finish any book. Super Freakonomics is decent .. however once you’ve read the original you can almost half predict what is in store in this one. I particularly have bookmarked Daniel Kahneman and John list(incidentally the first link on google is about a mass murderer) for future reading.
- I had put this up on facebook too .. but for the record i will put it here as well. While idling today i discovered two gems by Samuel Johnson.. The Idler and The Rambler. Do read if you have time . The Idler is particularly humourous and full of sarcasm.
- Also happened to re-read John Ruskin’s Unto this Last which as always has been fantastic. Can totally understand how/why this influenced Gandhiji.
The Mysore Trip
- Thanks to a friend’s marriage .. i did this 2 day mysore trip. Visited places like .. Shivasamudram .. Talakkad .. Somnathpura .. Srirangapatnam .. Mysore Palace .. Mysore Zoo :P .. Brindavan Gardens etc .. Some fun trip it was.
- Fell in love with the hoysala architecture .. the pillars particularly ! . The circles on the pillars are like those we see on the pots when they are being made on the potter wheel .. Temples always amaze me for their architectural splendour.
- The waterfalls were decent .. especially considering the fact tat it was peak summer :).
- The fotos have been picasa-ed .. i like picasa-ing :P
PS : Credit for most of the pics goes to my new cellphone and its camera .. however bad it might be .. samsung galaxy pop is a handy piece. Especially the wifi is good :) and android app store is pretty good i say ! :P
